Focusing on God…
Today has been filled with so much information that I am having to really decompress to understand it all.
First, there is Sunday School. We are learning about how to better communicate in our marriage. We are following a plan on RightNow Media by Jill and Mark Savage called “No More Perfect Marriages.” Today’s lesson was about accepting our spouse as they are and not trying to change them, but rather change ourselves. This can be a hard lesson but it is important to understand that they are human too. We have to learn to accept their humanity. The lesson today focused on three steps to “intentionally untangle our hearts.”
1. Don’t resign – instead refine
2. Don’t blame – instead claim
3. Don’t hold a grudge – instead forgive
These can be hard, and will mean work on our part. However, I think they will lead to a better relationship with anyone.
Second, there was the sermon. Bro Terry at Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church, hit hard on 1 Peter 5:8-10. We have to keep our heads up! Y’all listen! God wants you to know that you are loved by Jesus! He wants you to recognize when the Devil is attacking so that you can arm yourself against him! Study Ephesians 6 and learn to pray on the armor of God! When we learn to humble ourselves before God and truly trust in Him, we will be blessed! God wants us to seek after Him in all things! This may be hard at times, but it is always worth it.
Then, there was the Connect Group meeting tonight. Wow! Phillipians 2:3-11. More of God pouring His love over us! It is hard to grasp the depth of God’s love, and to understand the price Jesus paid for our salvation. It’s hard sometimes to even get what salvation is. God desires for us to become humble servants to Him and for Him. Not for our sake or even for His pleasure, but to honor and glorify Him so that others may be blessed by Him through us. Allowing ourselves to be His tools can be one of the hardest things we as Christians have to do. It will also be one of the most rewarding things because of how it helps others to come to Christ!
I am trying to come to terms with this journey God has set me on. I find it difficult to step out of my comfort zone and be this open about my thoughts to other people. Keep me in your prayers that I may be able to continue to express God’s will through writing these posts and books. I pray for all of you as well. I pray that you let go and allow God to have His will move in your life. Is it easy? Not always. Is it worth it? Undoubtedly!
