When Jesus went into Peter’s house, He saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she got up and began to serve Him.
Matthew 8:14-15 HCSB
Peter was Jesus’ most devoted apostle.
He would go on after the resurrection and establish the church on the foundation of Jesus (Acts 2). But here, in these two verses it is not Peter that is the focus, but rather his mother-in-law. She was sick, and Peter had been called to her. When Peter came, he brought Jesus with him. Instead of turning away the visitor, she allowed Him to heal her. Between her faith and Peter’s, the miraculous healing of Jesus Christ was not subdued. Anytime someone is touched and healed by Christ, faith is shown. Fear cannot be a part of the equation. There has to be a boldness of faith that takes place. Evidence of that boldness was seen in the healing of Peter’s mother-in-law. Fear Not and have Faith. Fully Rely On God!
I enjoy all your post. I just wanted to take the time to let you know how each speaks to me and especially this one. I struggle with fear and I needed these reminding words today. I love you and I love you for being such a wonderful husband and father to my girls.
