Matthew 6:9-15 HCSB
“Therefore, you should pray like this:
Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
“For if you forgive people their wrongdoing, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well. But if you don’t forgive people, your Father will not forgive your wrongdoing.
Prayer is without a doubt, the most important part of our daily walk with God.
It is the way we communicate with our Father. Jesus lays out the guidelines of how we are to pray in, what us known as the Lord’s Prayer. The four Ps of prayer are:
PROCLAMATION: addressing whom we are praying to,
PROVISIONS: asking God for the things we need,
PROTECTION: asking God to guard us from the things of this world,
And
PRAISE: giving reverence and thanks to God.
If we follow this outline, we will receive the blessings that God has on store for us. Jesus says that God gives to those that ask, so why aren’t we asking Him for all things? The answer, in short, is fear. We are afraid that He might say “No.” If He does, we should know that He knows what is best and that we have no need for fear. God has provided us with everything, so why fear? Instead, we should rely on Him and Fear Not!
